Child Safety Seat Checks

Posted in community, Health, Life, Portland tagged , , , , at 12:24 am by pdxfirefly

Last month, Portland Firefly mentioned that there are several child car booster seats that have been recalled… and that parents should check the installation of their childs car seat occasionally.  At the time, I did not have additional information to share with  you, but now I do.

There is a website www.chldsafetyseat.org  which gives the Child Passenger Safety requirements and gives you the calendar for the carseat safety clinic that will be near your home.   http://www.childsafetyseat.org/calendar.html

No appointment necessary, drop in between posted hours. Please read vehicle owners manual and car seat instructions prior to attending. A certified technician will be available to work one on one with parents and caregivers to ensure that they can install their child restraints properly. Each seat check takes 20-30 minutes.

“Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians and trained volunteers will check for correct installation, damage, recalls, and size and age appropriateness. Each seat takes about 30 minutes to check but the peace of mind will last for months!”

I hope that this will help to save a child’s life.
