Here is a picture of the bustling Puerta del Sol, a busy pedestrian square in the heart of Madrid.   This picture was taken on International Red Cross day and Spain’s Princess was in the tent accepting donations from citizens who then were able to have a photo taken with her.

The country of Spain is roughly shaped like a circle with its capitol of Madrid geographically positioned in the center.  In the heart of the old city is the Governors Building which is situated on the Puerta del Sol, a busy square akin to New York City’s Times Square on New Years Eve.  On the sidewalk in front of this building is an emblem from which all distances in Spain and the Spanish Colonies are measured and for this reason it is called Zero Kilometer.
